Description
This is an iconic 1st Edition Kabutops Holofoil from the 1999 Fossil expansion. The card features Ken Sugimori's classic illustration of the bipedal, shellfish Pokémon against a fiery orange and gold starfield holographic background. It is a Stage 2 evolution from Kabuto and belongs to the 'Fighting' type category in the TCG.
Key Features
Features the 1st Edition stamp on the left side, holofoil background, and original 1999 vintage artwork. Kabutops remains a fan favorite of the original 151 Pokémon.
Authenticity Indicators
The 1st Edition logo font and the '9/62' numbering align with known authentic prints. High confidence of authenticity, though counterfeit versions of 1st Edition holos are relatively common, the wear/stock aging on this piece look organic.
Flaws to Note
Significant whitening is visible on the left edge of the front border. There appears to be surface scratching on the holofoil. Heavy whitening on the back corners is expected based on the front edge wear. High-grade potential is low.
Selling Guide
Where to Sell
eBay is the best platform for this card's current condition. TCGPlayer is also an option for listing as 'Moderately Played' or 'Heavily Played' condition.
Selling Tips
Do not grade this card; the grading fees will likely exceed the value added due to the visible edge wear. List it as 'Raw' and provide high-resolution photos of the back to show the true condition of the corners.
